Dentures are the tried-and-true replacement for multiple missing teeth. Modern dentures are very different from traditional “false teeth,” however. With advanced materials and options such as implant-supported dentures, today’s dentures look more natural, and fit more comfortably, than ever before.
Dentures come in two main types, depending on the number of teeth that need to be replaced. Full dentures are designed to replace all your upper or lower teeth. Partial dentures are designed to replace a few missing teeth.
Dentures are held in place by natural suction, or, in the case of partial dentures, by clips or other attachment. They are made of material that simulates natural teeth and gums to restore your smile to a natural looking appearance.
Implant-supported dentures use dental implants to secure the denture in place. The dentures can be permanently attached to the implants, or they may use an attachment system that allows them to be removed.
Because they are secured to dental implants these dentures are very stable and won’t shift or slide while you are eating or speaking.
